About TORQUAY... Torquay is the jewel of Devon, first given its sparkle by the Victorians. It is characterised by the splendid palm trees growing all along the seafront, which are represented on the logo of The English Riviera. Despite being made famous by Fawlty Towers, the resort actually boasts some of the finest hotels in England while the views admittedly don't include the Pyramids or the Hanging Gardens of Babylon but are spectacular in their own right. The seafront is long, elegant, and family-friendly, with everything from a harbour and marina to superb shops and beaches. This is a stylish part of Devon and ideally placed for exploring kent's Cavern, first inhabited by our ancestors 450,000 years ago, and the famous Model Village at Babbacombe.
