Visitors to Axminster are often surprised to find a small ancient market town surrounded by beautiful countryside, yet with many of the amenities of a larger town. The town has its own indoor 25m swimming pool, sports centre and gym. There are a wide variety of pubs and restaurants in the town and surrounding area offering great food and service. Axminster is a pleasant, unspoilt market town that had good rail, road and air links. Highfield Bed & Breakfast is less than one mile from Axminster Railway Station, which is part of the Waterloo to Exeter line. Pick-up from the station can be arranged on request. Axminster is approximately 20 miles from the M5 (Junction 26) and is served well by the A303, A35 and A358.
